Police are investigating a possible burglary in Lakelands overnight, after a 4WD vehicle was used to force entry into the Lakelands Shopping Centre.
A WA Police spokesperson confirmed the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 23.
Mandurah Police acting Senior Sergeant Anthony Nemeth said the offenders targeted the SmokeMart shop after forcing entry.
He said a quantity of tobacco was stolen, but no cash, and that the offenders had broken into the shop and fled "within minutes".
A Lakelands resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said they saw the incident unfold and contacted police.
They said they thought it was an accident initially and that it was shocking to see.
The witness said they saw a white twin cab 4WD with a short tray smashing back through the shopping centre entrance and speed away on Lake Valley Drive.
They also said a high-pitch alarm initially went off but then stopped.
The investigation is ongoing.
