Ballroom dancers from across Western Australia will waltz into Mandurah next year for the inaugural 2020 DanceSport WA Mandurah Championship.
The first competition of its kind will be held at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre during the Labour Day long weekend on March 1.
A unique and diverse activity, DanceSport is competitive ballroom dancing that promotes inclusivity.
Guaranteed to wow local and visiting audiences, competitors of all ages and abilities will take to the floor to showcase their skill, musicality and artistry.
There will be categories for juveniles under 13 years old all the way up to masters, as well as for recreational and professional dancers.
Some of the spectacles on show will include Para Dance, also known as wheelchair dancing, events as well as all the energy and enthusiasm of Break Dancing - which has just been added to the lineup at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Sponsorship from the City of Mandurah means spectators can witness the talent on display from some of the region, state and country's best performers for free.
Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said next year's DanceSport WA Mandurah Championship would be a fun event not to be missed.
"We are proud to host this wonderful event - showcasing an array of talented dancers across all ages and abilities," he said.
"I wish the competitors luck and encourage everyone to come along, show their support and take the opportunity to stay in Mandurah for the long weekend and experience what our great city has to offer."
The event is brought to life by a partnership between DanceSport WA, the City of Mandurah and Visit Mandurah.
Visitors to the Peel region are encouraged to take advantage of the long weekend and stay a few days in town - exploring the natural attractions and enjoying what Mandurah has to offer.
In the meantime, fans can get their ballroom dancing fix at the LiveLighter 2019 DanceSport WA Open Championship on October 26. Held at HBF Stadium, the event is Perth's most prestigious competitive ballroom dancing event showcasing some of the country's best talents.
