The Peel Aquatic Club has enjoyed a successful September with impressive showings at both the Short Course State Swimming Championships and and the Age and Open State Championships.
Young stars from the club opened the month with a bang dominating the short course event, before being awarded the regional shield for the highest point-scoring club at the age and open carnival.
Led by coach Pat Stellino the club fielded a 23-strong team at the events held over separate weekends, with all swimmers excelling as several medals, records and personal best times being chalked up.
Overall the club came away with a strong haul of three gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals to show for themselves.
Caitlin Leather continued to show her prowess in the pool, notching the country residential and all-time record for 400m free and 400m individual medley, while Finlay Larmour cracked records in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Heidi Gstaettner also claimed records in her 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 800m freestyle races.
Caitlin's outstanding showing was recognised with selection into the top-10 swimmers at the championships, while both her and Finlay were named to the WA state team set to compete in Canberra in October.
Upon returning the duo will rejoin their teammates in the pool as they train hard with one eye on the National Age Championships, to be held in Perth in 2020.
The clubs is currently looking for new swimmers to join its ranks.
