Rockingham's reserves capped of their 2019 season with a premiership while the Mandurah Mustangs' admirable finals campaign came to a close as the Rams clinched a victory at Rushton Park on Saturday afternoon.
A blazing second quarter gave the Rams all the breathing space they needed to fend off a fast-finishing Mandurah outfit, taking home an 8.13 (61) to 6.5 (41) win to claim the flag.
It was the Mustangs who were off to a hot start, though, as Michael Mulcahy wasted no time in scoring the first goal of the day, converting from his side's first forward entry.
But it didn't take long for the first quarter to become an arm wrestle, with both sides throwing everything at the contest to try and sway momentum.
It was the Rams' finding themselves with the most opportunities, but inaccuracy proved a hindrance as they piled up the behinds before Michael Jordi broke through for their first and only goal for the term, giving them a five-point lead at the break.
Rockingham began to seize their opportunities in the second, however, bagging four goals to move Mandurah's one as they moved to a healthy lead.
Best afield medal winner Aaron Ophorst gott he ball rolling with back-to-back goals, before Matthew D'Allessandro piled on another.
Kenny Hunter hit back for the Mustangs, but David Foletta had the immediate reply at the ready as the Rams took a 23-point lead into half time.
The game reached boiling point when four yellow cards were handed out in the third term, but scoring remained stagnant as Rockingham notched the only goal to stretch their margin to 32 points at the final change.
Mandurah looked down and out but Hunter refused to give in, scoring two consecutive goals to cut the margin to 19 points and give his side hope.
But Ram Nathan Anderson delivered a crushing blow when he put a dent in the comeback, allowing Rockingham to run the game out as premiers despite the Mustangs continuing their efforts.
