The Nitro Mike Liquid Nitrogen Super Cool Science Show was the perfect way for the kids to engage in STEM, as outlined in the Department of Education's Focus 2019.
The show was a 50-minute program filled with experiments using liquid nitrogen. It was aligned with the school curriculum and adapted for all ages from pre-primary to year six.
Nitro Mike demonstrated the properties of liquid nitrogen by smashing flowers, turning bananas into hammers, blowing things up and shrinking them down.
The students were able to discover the change of matter from solid to liquid to gas in a fun and exciting way.
Classroom teachers conducted integrated lessons with their students on the Destination Moon - Rockets theme. Kids experimented with a variety of rockets - pop rockets, balloon rockets and water rockets.
For the Winter Wonderland - The Frozen Moon theme, kids decorated blocks of ice in ice-cream containers at home and brought them to school to make a giant frozen planet.
Children created a model of their own science experiment to display in the undercover area. There were some great projects completed using their vivid imagination for the science fair.
