A man has appeared in court after causing a commotion at the Mandurah Forum on Friday, after allegedly removing a small piece of wood from his backpack and pointing it, giving the impression it was a handgun.
Samuel John Sexton, 42, appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday, charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear.
Mr Sexton did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody for a psychological assessment. He is due to reappear in the same court today.
Police alleged Mr Sexton, of no fixed address, was at the Mandurah Forum behaving in an anti-social manner and yelling at bystanders about 1.30pm on Friday.
He proceeded to remove a small piece of wood from his backpack before he was apprehended by centre security and escorted from the shopping centre before being arrested by police.
