The federal government will fund a new traffic island on Dawesville Bypass after the Mandurah location was identified as a dangerous site for drivers.
The Black Spot Program will inject funding into Western Australia's road network to the tune of $14.35 million in 2019-20.
A new traffic island will be installed on Dawesville Bypass between the through lane and the left-turn lane to Dawesville Road.
This will cost $613,300 and will reduce vehicle masking and hopefully help to avoid right-angle crashes.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael mcCormack said the Black Spot Program was a major investment and was a commitment to building safer roads across the nation.
"The Black Spot Program provides funding for the provision of safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at road locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred," he said.
In total, 34 Black Spot projects are being funded across WA in 2019-20.
