Expressions of interest for the lease of Miss Adam's House, an iconic heritage building in Pinjarra's main street, are being sought.
The Shire of Murray is seeking submissions to lease the site at 6 George Street, Pinjarra for hospitality, tourism or other usage, that will add value and vibrancy to Pinjarra and that integrates the site with the redevelopment of the foreshore reserve and activation of the main street.
Shire of Murray president David Bolt said it was a unique and rare opportunity to lease prime real estate on the Pinjarra Foreshore, located at a key entry point to the town's main street and adjacent to the popular Cantwell Park playground.
"Pinjarra is a rapidly evolving town that services the diverse social and economic needs of a growing community," he said.
"It is Murray's major regional town and a key tourist destination, particularly known for its heritage attractions.
"Pinjarra is the focus of significant government investment for projects such as the Murray River Square and Foreshore Redevelopment and the Pinjarra Heavy Haulage Deviation which will direct heavy haulage traffic away from the town centre, to accommodate improved pedestrian activity and streetscaping.
"Pinjarra will also service the Bushfire Centre of Excellence and Peel Business Park developments."
The expressions of interest process is in accordance with Shire efforts to encourage the revitalisation and repurpose of existing heritage buildings, in keeping with the town's look and feel, to bring new attractions to the area, including projects such as The Court House and Exchange Hotel.
"Submissions need to be sensitive to the heritage significance of the building," Mr Bolt said.
"The Shire's decision will be based on the manner and extent to which the proposal benefits and activates the town and a competitive rental arrangement will be offered to the right enterprise."
Submissions must be received by 4pm on Friday, October 11.
