A 28-year-old Coodanup man has been sentenced to two years in prison after leading police on a dangerous pursuit through a number of Mandurah suburbs.
Gregory Beau James Pickett pleaded guilty to a number of offences in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on July 3 including driving dangerously causing bodily harm, stealing a motor vehicle, criminal damage and endangering the life, health or safety of a person.
Police said officers attempted to stop a White Mitsubishi Pajero which Pickett stole from an address on Balwina Road in Greenfields about 11.30 am on May 17.
The Mitsubishi was pursued by several police cars and the air wing division.
In the ensuing chase, police say Pickett drove through five fences before going over a stinger device on Ranceby Avenue. Despite this, the vehicle made it into the Mandurah Forum underground car park.
Police said the Mitsubishi clipped a member of the public's vehicle, damaging a mirror, before it collided with a police car.
Pickett fled on foot before being caught and arrested on Pinjarra Road.
Pickett was sentenced to two years and three months in prison and was made eligible for parole.
