About 160 seniors enjoyed a wonderful Christmas in July lunch with all the trimmings, along with a great variety of entertainment recently at the Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre.
The many volunteers and staff once again went above and beyond with their efforts to make the event enjoyable for the attendees; a three-course lunch served at their tables along with non-stop entertainment.
Entertainer Paul Ewing, originally from Melbourne, is no stranger to Mandurah. He started his long career in 1967 in a band named The Kinetics, performing venues in Melbourne.
In 1969 Ewing settled in Perth and worked with several well-known bands. In 1972 he joined heavy rock band Bakery where history was made, being the first band in the world to play in a church, St Georges Cathedral in Perth.
Several bands later in 1999, Ewing became a member of the well-known Troupadores. He now performs a solo act on his keyboard across WA.
Well known for his humour and many skills as a performer, his music and songs are uplifting and there is a great mix of music across all genres. From his quick costume changes, Ewing can appear as anyone, from Johnny Cash to Willie Nelson.
It was a great performance, with Eddie Storm joining in on a song on stage with Ewing at the end of the show.
The Halls Head College ESC choir were delightful and provided a mix of carols and songs.
The Seniors Glee Club provided some skits - a dedicated group of members, very humorous particularly with their Little Red Riding Hood skit with her family members and the big bad wolf. All in full costume.
Thank you to the staff, volunteers and entertainers for a wonderful day.
The next concert is August 7, featuring tenor Jay Weston. Call 9550 3799 for further information about the concert.
