A new collaborative exhibition, Murmuration, has opened at Contemporary Arts Space Mandurah (CASM).
Designed and created by local artists Carol Clitheroe, Jacq Chorlton and Tich Dixon, the display is the phenomenon of intricately coordinated patterns created when hundreds of birds fly through the sky.
The artists worked together examining their creative journey, pushing and pulling ideas and researching techniques until they are finally resolved into artworks of unique beauty and meaning.
Widely known for her award winning creativity and technical skill at Wearable Art Mandurah, artist Jacq Chorlton's works centre on bird and fish life, created primarily from repurposed and recycled materials.
Chorlton said there were many issues to examine in today's contemporary society, with scientific research enriching and educating society.
She added we were also experiencing "social and environmental dangers" and the cynicism and denial of the outcomes of research gives us plenty of scope for artistic dialogue and response.
Meanwhile, Carol Clitheroe's works feature clay sculptural forms, primarily female busts and figures, using recyclable materials, each connecting to either oceanic or earth bound environments.
Passionate about the conservation of our environment and taking inspiration from the elements of the natural world, Tich Dixon created a series of intimate miniatures and larger scaled sculptures from objects including metal, glass and driftwood.
Murmuration will be on display until Sunday, July 28.
There will be a free artist talk at CASM at 2pm on Sunday, July 14.
