Students at Ocean Road Primary School were treated to traditional Japanese dining this week as part of their study into Japanese culture.
The experience allowed students to incorporate Japanese customs including eating with chopsticks and utilising their language skills to express their appreciation for the food and the people who organised it for them.
The food on offer included noodles, rice, miso soup, sweet red beans with green tea pudding, a variety of teas and green tea muffins.
Japanese teacher, Chubb Sensei, said the meal promoted a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and exposed students to traditional customs and foods they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to sample. Student, Mia Damhuis, said she enjoyed trying different new foods and particularly liked the rice.
