Mandurah police and detectives have been busy investigating crime and charging alleged offenders after several serious incidents occurred on the weekend, including stabbings, assaults and unprovoked attacks.
Mandurah detectives have charged a 20-year-old Greenfields man after he allegedly stabbed another man in a fight in Smart Street Mall, near Norma Jeans nightclub, about 2.30am on Sunday.
Brodie Adam Kiernan did not enter a plea when he appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He is due to reappear in court on July 3.
On Monday, Mandurah Detective Senior Sergeant Trevor Troy said the 21-year-old Meadow Springs victim was still in hospital being treated for a possible punctured lung.
Police allege the victim's friend was spat on by a person in the nightclub, earlier that evening.
Senior Sergeant Troy said a fight broke out between two groups in Smart Street Mall, before moving towards Mandurah Terrace and the Eastern Foreshore.
Mandurah detectives were called to the Coles entrance of the Mandurah Forum for another stabbing incident on Saturday afternoon at 4.40pm.
Senior Sergeant Troy said a 28-year-old victim had an argument with a person he knew, in an alley near the Mandurah Magistrates Court.
The victim told police he was punched in the stomach and was initially unaware he had been stabbed, until he noticed blood on his shirt and a small puncture wound to the left of his stomach.
The victim sought help at the Mandurah Forum and was treated by St John Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Peel Health Campus. He said the victim declined to provide a statement.
Senior Sergeant Troy said armed violence would not be tolerated by police.
Fremantle Dockers defender Nathan Wilson, 26, suffered facial injuries during a brawl outside a Halls Head 21st birthday party on Saturday night.
The incident, which happened on Banyon Close just after midnight, is still under investigation by Mandurah Police.
In another matter, a 71-year-old man was the victim of an alleged unprovoked attack while setting up his fruit stall on Smart Street Mall, about 4am on Saturday morning.
The incident was captured on CCTV.
A 19-year-old Secret Harbour man has been charged with behaving in a disorderly manner, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and stealing.
He is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on July 5.
A 20-year-old Port Kennedy man has been charged with behaving in a disorderly manner, stealing and damage, with his court date yet to be set.
In another allegedly unprovoked incident, a 16-year-old Greenfields boy faced Perth Children's Court on Wednesday after allegedly mugging a 13-year-old boy for his watch, near the Mandurah Forum.
Police allege the victim was approached by a group of youths about 1.45pm on Sunday, as they walked from Pinjarra Road to the Forum entrance.
It is alleged one of the group members grabbed the victim's watch from his wrist, before the boy was punched several times.
The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the Peel Health Campus.
Finally, Senior Sergeant Troy said there were eight burglaries in the area over the weekend.
Mandurah District Police Senior Sergeant Darren Hart has thanked the community for their assistance after a handful of local crimes were recently solved with the help of the public.
In one recent case, police say an anonymous woman tipped off police with information, which helped to identify a man who allegedly stole from Mandurah Central Pharmacy.
The 29-year-old Mandurah man has been charged and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on June 26.
Senior Sergeant Hart said information from the public was "often critical" in solving crimes.
"It's important as a community that we stand together against those who do the wrong thing," he said.
