Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving Club star Shannon O'Brien had her hard work over the past 12 months honoured when she was named WA's Youth Surf Life Saver of the Year over the weekend.
A Mandurah local, Shannon was presented with the honour at Surf Life Saving WA's awards of excellence night at the Crown Casino, which comes on the back of some tireless service to the Peel region's beach-goers.
Kicking off her time at the club through their Nippers programs, Shannon has since spent 10 years volunteering at Port Bouvard, a stint that encompasses upwards of 320 hours.
She has recently achieved qualification to become a jetski operator, and is the club's current treasurer along with being a qualified patrol captain and inflatable rescue boat driver.
Shannon also trains other youngsters looking to attain qualifications like their bronze medallion.
The Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving Club is currently on the lookout for new members to join their ranks.
