The Mandurah Magic men suffered a dour weekend with losses to both Rockingham and Lakeside in round 13 of the State Basketball League season.
Taking on Rockingham on Friday night, all-star point guard Shaun Stewart put together a dazzling performance but it wasn't enough to will the Magic to a win as they went down 82-70.
The Flames landed an early blow in the clash when they outscored the Magic by 12 in the opening quarter, and the slow start would prove to be the difference.
Mandurah's offence found some rhythm scoring 24 points in the second term, but they failed to maintain that intensity in the back half of the game and eventually took the 12-point victory.
Stewart was a star in the loss, scoring 28 points to go with five assists and three rebounds, while Marvin Smith put up 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The Magic was without their star point guard in the Lakeside game, instead receiving solid contributions from Smith and Cousteau Kyle as they went down 93-66 at home.
It was another slow start that crippled the Magic, as they ended the first quarter down 10 points before cutting that margin down to just two at half time.
Much like the night before, however, the young Mandurah outfit wasn't up to the task in the second half.
But that didn't stop young gun Kyle from making his mark with a 17-point showing as he continues to find his feet in the senior level.
He also grabbed three rebounds for his stat line, while Smith went for 22 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Riley Parker impressed off the bench with seven points, four rebounds and three assists.
Mandurah now heads into a second straight double-header, with games against the South West and Joondalup looming in round 14.
