A North Yunderup woman is feeling slightly under the weather after wild winds overnight damaged the roof of her home.
Mandurah and the South-West was hit by wet and windy weather on Thursday night and Friday morning, in a sign that winter is on the way.
One woman, who requested anonymity, is waiting to find out the extent of the damage to her North Yunderup home after her pergola broke and flew onto the property's roof about 2.30am this morning.
"I had a hard time sleeping as I was waiting for the wind to stop and all of a sudden it went quiet," she said.
"I thought it had been and gone - but then there was a roar that came from out of nowhere. I heard a 'doof, doof, doof' as the wood from the pergola came off one by one.
"Then a massive bang as the wind lifted it up and smashed it down on to the roof of the house.
"The pergola has folded over onto the roof of the house. We don't know the extent of the damage just yet until the builder comes up.
"I've never heard anything like it."
The woman, who owns the home and has lived there for four-and-a-half years, said she had insurance - and that it could have been a lot worse.
"The State Emergency Services got up there this morning and said I was so lucky as the pergola missed my solar panels by six centimetres," she said.
"They are worried about the wind coming back as I don't have any eaves now and it has twisted all the roof beams."
Mandurah residents can expect wet and windy weather for the next six days, according to Bureau of Meteorology forecasts.
