Students from nine local schools walked along the foreshore on Wednesday, to mark Reconciliation Week 2019.
Excited participants gathered outside the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre at 10am, to hear from Bindjareb elder Harry Nannup and community leader George Walley about the importance of different cultures coming together.
Each school had painted their own colourful banner for the event, walking in unity to the Eastern Foreshore.
From there students were told stories, sang songs and watched special dance performances.
The Lions Club of Mandurah provided a sausage sizzle for the students.
Community leader Barrie Lawrence said this year's walk was even more special, because it was organised by Mandurah's young people.
"The event was driven by young people in our community,' he said.
"It's always been the adults who have organised these events, so it's great to see young people in high school and young adults organising these events."
