An arrest warrant has been issued for a Dwellingup man who failed to appear in court on Tuesday for child sex charges after he went missing while kayaking off Point Peron in April.
Stephen Angel, 59, did not appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on two counts of sexually penetrating a child under 13 years old and indecently dealing with a child under 13 years old.
Mr Angel has pleaded not guilty to all four charges.
Police prosecutor Tamara Read told the court Mr Angel recently received a disability payout and was an experienced sailor.
Senior Constable Read said Mr Angel was a missing person and a bench warrant should be issued.
A large-scale police and emergency services search failed to find Mr Angel, who was the registered owner of a personal locator beacon activated about 11am on April 3.
Mr Angel's kayak was found floating upturned in the water.
Magistrate Anne Longden issued a warrant for Mr Angel's arrest.
