Mandurah has been chosen to take part in a pilot program for parents and pre-schoolers to begin exploring maths.
Partnering with the Smith Family, Mandurah is one of just four areas selected in Western Australia, and one of 15 across the country, participating in the program introducing numeracy to young children.
The program, Maths Fun, is an opportunity for parents to begin exploring mathematical concepts and skills with their child in a fun and playful way.
Maths Fun uses measurement, counting, shapes and spatial awareness through play, stories, songs and hands-on activities to encourage a love of learning and positive experience with maths in daily life.
Together with the facilitators you will develop your child's foundational numeracy skills.
There will be four free maths sessions for three-five year olds with children and their guardians required to attend all four sessions and provide program feedback at the end.
The Lakelands Library and Community Centre will host the sessions on May 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 11am.
The Dudley Park Child and Parent Centre will host the sessions on May 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 9.30am.
Bookings are essential. For more information, or to reserve a place, visit the City of Mandurah website or call 9550 3835.
