Halls Head will be hoping the big stage that comes with playing on Anzac Day will lead them to their first win when they take on Baldivis this Thursday night.
The two sides will clash for the Stand Down Trophy in their annual game, with the Lightning hoping their mix of inside and outside run can buoy them to their first win after opening their campaign with losses to 2018 grand finalists Pinjarra and Centrals.
The young Halls Head outfit has been far from miserly in their first two matches, but being unable to follow on from blistering opening quarters has hurt them.
They'll be hoping to buck that trend in front of a huge Anzac Day crowd against Baldivis.
Kyren Gavin is set to play his first game for the club this season after spending 2018 in a Waroona jersey, with coach Ron Coles hoping a spread of runners can help the Lightning open their account.
"We usually match-up quite well with Baldivis when we play them at home - they're a fairly tall team most of the time so hopefully we can get on the outside and run the ball around our fair share," he said.
"I've been pretty impressed with our form over the first two games, but we've played brilliant in patches and then let teams get a hold of us in patches.
"With how young we are that up and down form is to be expected, but we need wins on the board."
The two clubs have gone head-to-head in their Anzac Day tradition since 2015, with Baldivis holding current bragging rights after overcoming a persistent Lightning outfit last season.
Halls Head use the day as a team-bonding exercise, with players attending the dawn service to pay their respects in the morning before breakfast at the club.
Coles said it was an honour for the club to be able to pay tribute to our past servicemen and women through footy, with a ceremony and wreath-laying part of the pre-game proceedings.
"I think it's important that we stop and honour the Diggers and those who fought for us, because while we love the footy that's what the day's all about," he said.
"We'll obviously try to honour them with a win, but just to be able to play in front of a big crowd on a big day for our country, it's a huge day for our club."
The two sides will go head-to-head at Spartan Stadium on Thursday night, 5.15pm.
