Drivers have made a lucky escape from a two-car collision near the Old Bunbury Road and Forrest Highway intersection overnight.
About 9.45pm, a white ute and orange SUV collided just shy of the crossroad, in the southbound lane.
A police officer at the scene said while he could not confirm the cause of the accident, both occupants had sustained minor injuries.
The crash caused traffic to bank up for more than an hour but has since been cleared.
Freight trains, delivery vans, passenger coaches, sedans and utes were among those forces to wait for the scene to clear.
Police, fire and rescue crews and St John Ambulance were on hand to help those affected.
Paramedics were seen treating an elderly woman at the scene, who was later transferred to Peel Health Campus as a precautionary measure.
A WA Police spokeswoman said the other driver involved was also taken to the Mandurah hospital for a precautionary check up.
The crash occurred just hours before a 19-year-old woman was killed in a crash along the Kwinana Freeway, near the Russell Road exit.
It's understood the woman was a pedestrian and was struck by a car.
