The blueprint that will set Murray and its people on a "prosperous track" to 2030 is now open for comment.
Shire of Murray president David Bolt said over the last year the council had engaged the community to understand long-term desires for the district and articulate a plan for the next 10 years.
"During the consultation period, which ends on Friday, May 3, it is important that community members read Murray 2030 and submit their feedback, so that the shire can gauge whether these aspirations have been captured correctly," he said.
It is proposed by the shire's draft Strategic Community Plan that by 2030, the region will be a place where business thrives, the environment is protected and all residents enjoy an outstanding quality of life.
According to the plan, the vision will be achieved by focusing on five key areas: places for people; thriving economy; environment, character and heritage; connected and accessible, and capable and accountable.
There is a number of specified objectives and strategies for each focus area.
"Murray 2030 is necessary to meet the challenges and growth predicted for the district with clear intent and to take advantage of the the many opportunities growth brings," Cr. Bolt said.
"Ensuring we have correctly articulated the community's aspirations will ensure that together, we create great places for our people and a diverse and prosperous economy as well as provide effective stewardship of our environment, history and rural character, much-loved Murray attributes that will continue to make our district a unique and wonderful place to live."
