Some of Western Australia's best bodyboard talent is set to converge on Mandurah Wedge this weekend, with the local hot spot set to host the opening event of the SunSmart WA Bodyboard Titles.
A host of former state and national title winners will take on hometown talents including, Davis Blackwell (Dawesville), George Humphreys (Halls Head) and Jordan Ihms (Falcon).
The trio will look to milk every drop of their local knowledge when competition kicks off on Saturday.
"The sand is in all the right places at the moment and the forecast is looking pretty fun," Blackwell said.
"I haven't competed in WA State Titles for a couple of years, but I'm keen to take some of the new young groms coming out of the woodwork."
Mandurah Wedge is one of the most consistent waves in the Peel region and provides some of the most high intensity and performance bodyboard waves in Australia.
Its rocky amphitheatre provides a truly unique competition settings, with waves, water and riders flying only meters away from spectators and officials.
"Mandurah has some of the best beaches in Australia and we are proud to be able showcase our amazing coastline," City of Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said.
"It is a great opportunity for our local community to experience elite sport of this nature and I encourage everyone to get down and show our support."
The event offers competitors a chance to compete in some of the best waves the state has to offer, whilst mixing it up with some of the best up and coming talent in WA.
