Peel Thunderbirds product Sabreena Duffy looks a likely starter for Fremantle's first ever AFL Women's finals campaign this weekend, despite limping from the ground with an ankle injury in the side's win over North Melbourne on Saturday.
The gun rookie came from the ground in the third quarter of the Dockers' 7.10 (52) to 4.1 (25) win over the Kangaroos, failing to return to the field.
But coach Trent Cooper was confident the Peel product would be available for selection as the club prepares for its first ever preliminary final against Carlton this weekend.
"With Sabreena the message came to me that she's done an ankle, do we want to keep her going or put her away? At that stage we were safe, so I said no definitely put her away," Cooper said post-game.
"She iced up straight away, soon as you ice up an ankle it freezes up pretty bad, so she looked sore walking around, but she's confident she's right to go.
"She doesn't want to use crutches at all, the physio said, 'just use them, you'll be fine if you do'."
Duffy's early exit didn't stop her from effecting the game, as she booted two goals to help the Dockers women secure their greatest ever victory.
The game was a must-win for Fremantle if they were to secure a finals berth, and they did so in emphatic fashion as they dismantled a North Melbourne outfit that had just one previous loss on the year.
But the Dockers will be forced to travel for their upcoming preliminary final, despite finishing the year with two more wins than their opponents Carlton, due to the new conference structure of the competition.
Fremantle will enter their clash with the Blues as heavy favourites, with the game to be played at Ikon Park on Saturday, 11.45am WA time.
