Fremantle Dockers star recruit Jesse Hogan is set to miss the AFL opener against North Melbourne this weekend after a reported incident in Mandurah over the weekend.
The 24-year-old joined the Perth-based outfit from Melbourne in the off-season and was widely expected to make his Dockers bow on Sunday.
However, the club have confirmed Hogan will sit out the clash with the Kangaroos.
Fremantle football manager Peter Bell stated the star full forward had "made poor choices around alcohol consumption on Saturday evening", while citing the player suffered from clinical anxiety.
Football expert Brad Hardie told 6PR that Hogan was involved in an incident at a car park of a licensed venue near Mandurah at the weekend, which may have resulted in rib injuries.
"Unfortunately there seems to have been some sort of incident at a venue down Mandurah, Peel way on late Saturday afternoon, early evening," Hardie said.
"In the car park somehow Jesse sustained some rib injuries, so he won't be playing Round One.
"There's a bit of CCTV footage of it and at least one other Docker in attendance. Not a good start for Fremantle if Jesse Hogan can't front up on Sunday."
Fremantle has been contacted for comment.
