Mandurah Detectives have charged a 25-year-old man who allegedly reversed into a police motorcycle before driving off, on Friday morning in Golden Bay.
The Lakelands man has been charged with several offences including endangering the life, health or safety of a person, reckless driving to escape pursuit and criminal damage.
He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
Mandurah Detective Senior Sergeant Trevor Troy said the man resisted arrest in the Mandurah Police Station foyer on Monday, about 12.20pm.
"We will look at the CCTV and consider an assault public officer charge," he said.
Police allege the man was driving a dark blue Subaru Forrester along Mandurah Road, near the Dampier Road intersection about 5.40am on March 15.
A police officer riding a police motorcycle activated his emergency lights to indicate for the man to pull over for a traffic stop.
The driver pulled over and came to a halt. The police officer pulled up around 5 metres behind the Subaru, with the emergency lights still activated on his motorcycle.
Police allege the officer approached the Subaru before the man reversed at high speed towards the police motorcycle, causing the officer to step back onto the road, with traffic approaching at 100 kilometres per hour.
The driver hit the police motorcycle, knocking it from its stand and pushing it along the road, causing extensive damage to the motorcycle and its police equipment, before driving off at speed along Mandurah Road.
The Subaru was located a short time later abandoned in a car park off Warnbro Sound Avenue in Port Kennedy.
