A man accused to have held-up a Mandurah petrol station with a weapon as part of a crime spree over the last three weeks has appeared in court.
Jonah Tawhiri, 20, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday. He has been remanded in custody, to reappear on March 15.
Police allege the man entered the 7Eleven on Pinjarra Road in Mandurah about 12.15pm on Thursday, threatened staff with a weapon and fled with cash.
They allege on February 18 at about 4.45pm, a man entered a supermarket on Mandurah Terrace in Silver Sands and was observed to take several items from the shelves and conceal them in his clothing.
Police say staff challenged the man as he attempted to leave the store, at which time it will be alleged he became aggressive. A staff member attempted to restrain the man, however he was able to break free.
On February 27 at about 10.10pm, a man entered a fast food outlet on Pinjarra Road in Mandurah.
After a short period of time he left the store, and it will be alleged he then re-entered the store, intimating he was armed with a firearm. The man demanded money, but left empty-handed.
On March 5 about 3.30pm, a man entered a retail/appliance store on Pinjarra Road in Greenfields and selected two vacuum cleaners.
It will be alleged the man attempted to leave the store without paying for the items and was confronted by a staff member.
Upon being confronted, the man produced a knife to warn the staff member off, and left the store.
