Year 10 student Brayden Napoli recently had a weekend he will never fore-get, winning the Pinjarra Golf Club Summer Cup.
The annual cup, held on Saturday, February 16, saw 140 participants of all ages compete for top spot.
The competition came to a dramatic ending with Brayden’s final opponent missing a putt, making the Mandurah Catholic College student the winner with a score of 68.
At only 15, Brayden was competing against players three and four times his age. The win is even more impressive considering the Mandurah Catholic College student has only been playing for two years.
"Granddad takes me to the Pinjarra Golf Club on the way to school each morning and we play nine holes," Brayden said.
Brayden’s upward swing continued on Sunday, February 17, winning the latest game of his junior pennants.
In fact, Brayden is undefeated, beating the top five junior players from some of the state’s best clubs over the past five weeks.
To top it off, Golf WA nominated Brayden for Most Improved Player, as his handicap came down dramatically throughout last year.
Matt Heath from Pinjarra Golf Club said Brayden showed potential for a professional career in golf.
“It’s still a long way down the track, after his schooling is finished. He has lots of work ahead of him, but he definitely has potential," he said.
