Arson Squad are investigating a suspicious house fire that caused $200,000 damage in Falcon on Tuesday evening.
Residents in the southern Mandurah suburb were woken by the blaze that broke out in a vacant Andante Street home just after 10pm.
Shortly after, Falcon and Mandurah-based fire and rescue crews were called to the scene and worked quickly to extinguish the blaze by 10.30pm.
A Western Power crew was also called in to switch off power to the property.
Neighbours told the Mandurah Mail the house had been empty for two months, however, squatters had been known to frequent the property.
While residents said they could not see flames, smoke was spotted bellowing for the homes front window.
"There was no one in there," a neighbour told the Mail.
"I smelt smoke coming through my house. Not long after that, probably 20 minutes later the fire trucks turned up. They put it all out pretty quick.
"It's a rental but no one has been in there for a couple of months."
The current owners bought the property for $362,500 on November 18, 2009.
Inquiries are continuing.
