A hip hop show “unlike any other” is heading to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and will feature the likes of Mandurah’s biggest DJ company, Ugly DJ Co, on the decks as part of the lineup.
In Between Two is a unique performance from Asian-Australian rapper Joel Ma and his brother, ARIA-nominated producer James Mangohig and will take to the MPAC stage on Tuesday, February 26.
The show combines impressive hip hop music playing out side-by-side with a narrative following the struggle to forge a cross-cultural sense of identity with the inclusion of personal family stories and family photos.

Coming off the back of shows at Sydney and Melbourne festivals, the 70 minute set from the pair is designed to challenge how audiences think and feel about Australian society and norms.
With family histories as complex and layered as their lyrics, the brothers’ heritages are woven through their experiences growing up in Australia.
Mangohig and Ma recount tales of their grandma owning a nightclub and being in an open marriage and their globetrotting parents with a political streak as they paint a canvas filled with failed proposals and religious strictures, casual racism and empowerment through music.
The show, full of beats, raps, storytelling and humour, carries a strong message about racism and finding identity in a multicultural Australian landscape.
In what is promised to be an epic Tuesday sundowner, local lads from Ugly DJ Co will be playing before and after the show and the bar will be open.
In Between Two is recommended for patrons over the age of 15.
