Peel Cricket Association: Pinjarra snaps Baldivis streak thanks to Lee century

Lee was beyond outstanding rocketing to a stunning 117 off 106 deliveries, with his third century of the season consisting of 19 boundaries, seven of which sailed over the rope for six.

His blistering knock spurred Pinjarra past the White Knights’ total of 9/184, which was set thanks to a hard-earned 53 from Matt Rennie.

Opting to bat first Baldivis was in trouble when opener Wesley Steele was dismissed for a duck.

Dylan Gray and Darren Solomon did what they could to haul the White Knights out of the 1/1 slump with 18 apiece, but it wasn’t until Rennie dug in for his half century that Baldivis began to motor.

Greg Roos’ 19 and Cameron Reyne’s 17 helped their cause before a sharp 34 off 25 balls from Stefan Botha buoyed the side to 184 runs before the end of their overs.

An early wicket would have had Baldivis feeling confident about keeping their streak in tact, but with Lee on fire they couldn’t find the breakthrough.

The star blasted boundary after boundary while fellow opener Liam Geary (14 off 80) rotated the strike and protected his wicket.

Their opening stand lasted 107 runs before Geary was dismissed, sparking a collapse that put Pinjarra’s hopes of a win in jeopardy.

Fortunately the Tigers steadied the ship just enough to ride Lee’s century to a win, chasing down the total with three overs to spare.

Pinjarra remains just one outside of the top four as they continue to snap at the heels of Singleton.

Michael Holmes blasted out 77 runs to lift South Mandurah off the canvas and guide them to a win over Shoalwater Bay in round 15.

The Falcons looked down and out sitting in a 4/20 hole after being sent into bat, but Holmes’ knock (along with 30 from Jack Sears, 33 from Kilian Rawson and 20 from Cory Wilson) saw the side out to 223 runs before being dismissed on the back of Seth Kennedy’s 5/44.

Louis Unuwai’s 52 topped the scoring for Shoalwater Bay but they weren’t able to chase down the total as South Mandurah picked up win number four on the season.

Dale Burns’ six-wicket haul and a trio of half-centuries to top order batsmen Levi Muller (53), Michael Chappell (54) and Alex Dillon (54) gifted Halls Head a win over Hillman.

Batting first, the visitors cruised to 3/184 on the back of their top order’s excellent knocks, helping them to a score of 6/217 from their 50 overs.

From there Hillman’s chase was completely stunted by Burns’ efforts with the ball, as he dismantled the Hornets to finish with 6/25 off 10 overs – a spell that included two maidens.

The win keeps Halls Head in the hunt for a finals spot.

Mandurah returned to the winners list after a two-game skid with a victory over Warnbro at Currie Street Reserve on Saturday.

Electing to bat first the Swans were boosted by a knock of 64 from Charl Nieuwenhuis, but a lack of support and some strong bowling from Matt Jenkinson (3/23) saw them eventually ousted on 154 runs in the 43^rd over.

Mandurah’s run chase was off to a troublesome start when Jenkinson went down leaving them at 1/8, but Ian Lattimore’s 43 teamed with Lewis Binns (26 not out) and Daniel Debono (21) to guide Mandurah to 9/157 for a nail-biting win.

The win keeps Mandurah in second spot, one game behind Baldivis.

A magnificent game from Ian Bowes secured Singleton a win in a grand final rematch against Waroona on Saturday, keeping them in the top four.

In a low-scoring game Bowes produced his side’s highest run total scoring 30 after coming in at number nine, helping Singleton to 125 runs before being all out as Waroona’s Keren Ugle claimed 4/17.

The Warriors hit back through Bevan Bennell’s 31, but Bowes absolutely tore through their batting line-up to claim a stunning 5/11 off 10 overs, including posting four maidens.

His efforts saw Waroona ousted short of the target on 115.
