A Safety Bay teenager who punched a Mandurah Forum security guard after stealing a T-shirt has been ordered to undertake a community based program.
Jayden Granucci, 18, pleaded guilty to common assault and stealing from City Beach when he appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Tamara Read told the court Granucci set the security alarms off at the surf store about 12.20pm on September 26, 2018.
Senior Constable Read said Granucci was detained outside the store before punching the security guard, causing swelling and tenderness.
Magistrate Anne Longden said Granucci was lucky to have only been charged with common assault and stealing.
It’s a bad situation all round.
