Sabreena Duffy’s outstanding start to her AFL Women’s career has been recognised with a rising star nomination following her stunning performance for Fremantle in a win over Brisbane on Sunday.
The Peel Thunderbirds product collected 11 disposals and booted two goals in the 27-point victory over last year’s grand finalists, following on from a promising debut against Melbourne just a week prior.
The 18-year-old has made a phenomenal start to her time in purple, playing a huge role in Fremantle staking their claim as one of the team’s to beat this AFLW season.

But despite her blistering individual play, Duffy said she’s simply zeroed in on helping the team get the results they’re after.
“It’s pretty crazy, I didn’t really expect anything of it,” Duffy told fremantlefc.com.au
“I just went into the game hoping to play my role for the team and get the win which was really good.
“It’s all thanks to the coaching staff for having faith in me.
“(High performance manager) Kate Starre has pushed me to my limits and also to (senior coach) Trent Cooper for believing in me, as I wouldn’t have this opportunity if it wasn’t for him.
“My fitness has been a massive focus as when I get fatigued I tend to back out from certain situations, I’ve been working really hard on that and it’s all come together quite nicely.”
Duffy will look to back up her rising star nomination when Fremantle host Collingwood this Saturday.
