Upgrades to the City of Mandurahs reception room and adjacent kitchen will absorb half a million dollars of the local governments budget.
Internal and external walls to the rooms will be demolished to make way for a new council chambers.
An Inglewood company has been appointed as the preferred tenderer for the project, after overcoming bids from Port Kennedy, Henderson and Burswood-based businesses.
A report presented to council at their official January meeting, revealed Palace Homes and Construction Pty Ltd, trading as Palace Construction, was identified as the overall best value for money for the City of Mandurah.
North Ward councillor Ron Wortley moved recommendations to appoint Palace Construction, stating the upgrades were well overdue.
Its a modest amount of money but we could have spent a lot more, he said.
Coastal Ward councillor Fred Riebeling seconded the motion, welcoming the upcoming refurbishment.
