TESTING has been undertaken at the Bathurst Greyhound Racing Club track after a report of a person who has contracted Legionnaires Disease being on the site.
The NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association said in a statement on Friday that it had received a report of a person who has contracted Legionnaires being on the track site in the past seven days.
“Testing on site has been undertaken in the past 24 hours, with advice provided by the Department of Health that the possible origin, if at the venue, is likely confined to the river bed area,” the association said.
“Steps have been undertaken, in line with the Department of Health guidelines, to treat appropriate areas to mitigate potential risk.”
The statement said the club had been using town water for track watering as part of this process “to remove the potential of water vapour being present on the site” at Friday night’s race meeting.
The statement said P2 face masks had been placed at the entry gate, kennel block and race night office, should any attending person have a concern and wish to take further precautions.
