A Greenfields mother said she is concerned for her daughter’s safety after her video monitor logged into another child’s nursery.
Edana Day said she purchased the camera to keep an eye on her eight-month-old child when she was sleeping.
“The box stated you can see her anywhere in the world,” she said.
“My partner and I are going on our honeymoon in 2020 and I thought, ‘Great; We can log in and see how she’s going’.
“Also, with my partner being FIFO (a fly-in fly-out worker), he can log in and see how his girl’s doing.”
Ms Day said the video could be accessed through a mobile phone app, without WiFi, using a quick response code and generic password.
“After you log in once, they encourage you to change your password,” she said.
I’m not connected to WiFi and I still got to see this poor woman’s nursery.

Ms Day said a few hours after she bought the monitor and the first time she had logged into the video, she could see inside a stranger’s nursery and was given the option to listen.
“I could have heard anything going on,” she said.
“I’m not connected to WiFi and I still got to see this poor woman’s nursery.
“Thankfully there were no children; it was just the cot.
“It makes my stomach turn.”
It makes my stomach turn.

Ms Day said it could have been a Mandurah family’s nursery who were none the wiser.
“With it being simple as that, she’s got to be local,” she said.
“Maybe there’s a mother down the street – the quality was so good.
“I thought, ‘maybe she hasn’t changed her password and I’ve linked into hers’.”
Ms Day said it was “horrifying” that safety wasn’t guaranteed anymore.
“As a mother, it’s scary,” she said.
“It’s the safety of your child – I am put off cameras for a while, I think.”
A Uniden spokeswoman said they were conducting investigations.
“Uniden is investigating the customer query regarding the BabyWatch BW3101R baby monitor,” she said
“We can't provide any comment until the customer's product has been reviewed and verified.”
