Thousands of NSW students will start the year in new classrooms after record state government upgrades.
Eight new schools and nine revamped campuses will open for the first day of term next week, amounting to almost 400 classrooms, Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Education Minister Rob Stokes announced on Tuesday.
The new additions include a 60-room high school in Ballina on the north coast, a 40-room major upgrade of Sydney's Manly Vale Public School and a 30-room senior campus at Cammeraygal High School in Crows Nest.
Two special needs schools have also been built in Dubbo and Narellan to cater for students with disabilities.
They are all part of the government's $6 billion school infrastructure investment to be delivered over four years covering 170 different schools, Mr Stokes said in a statement.
The NSW government will also spend $847 million on school maintenance and $500 million on air conditioning.
