A police pursuit through central Mandurah overnight reached speeds of up to 50 kilometres an hour over the limit.
About 12.50am on Friday, Mandurah Police officers spotted the car of a man known to them and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The driver then sped off to evade police.
Officers engaged in pursuit throughout the city’s central suburb including along France and Cooper Street, Anstruther Road and Mandurah Terrace.

Mandurah Police officer in charge Senior Sergeant Darren Hart said the peak speed the man reached during the pursuit was 100 kilometres an hour, which was recorded along Cooper Street.
Officers were forced to stop the pursuit and, as a result, the offender was not caught.
Senior Sergeant Hart said investigations into the matter would continue.
