The recently revitalised Pinjarra Court House is preparing for its official opening to the public on Saturday, January 19.
The new creative space, a joint initiative between placemaking group Pinjarra Connect and the Shire of Murray, offers an area for the community to co-work, co-create and co-innovate.
Residents are invited to head down to the Court House between 9am-12pm on the opening day to explore the space and learn more about the possibilities and opportunities available.
There will be live music, market stalls and complimentary face painting for a day the whole family can enjoy and celebrate.
Shire President councillor David Bolt said the Court House has become an ideal venue for creatives, entrepreneurs and small businesses to co-work and host meetings, workshops and community events.
“There is also an area within the facility for ‘Makers in Residence’ allowing artists to produce, display and sell their products,” he said.
An application process managed by Pinjarra Connect will determine the ‘Makers in Residence’ schedule, with facility hire managed by the Shire of Murray.
Pinjarra Connect representative Nicole Willis said the group were looking forward to activating the space for the use and enjoyment of the district.
“Pinjarra has a thriving creative community and having a space available on the main street for its representatives to showcase their works and engage with the public, is a great opportunity.”
Councillor Bolt said the project was an apt example of the Shire’s commitment to its place-based approach.
He praised the way Shire officers worked with local groups to empower the growth of the town through community-driven events and initiatives.
“I encourage the region’s creatives, entrepreneurs and small business owners to utilise the space which now has the potential to not only provide networking and business opportunities but also deliver social and economic benefits for our community,” he said.
