Accessible beach matting at Swimmers Beach at the Mandurah Ocean Marina has been extended until the end of January.
The bright blue beach matting runs from an access ramp along the sand to the water’s edge, enabling prams, wheel chairs and other mobility equipment to access the sand so all of the community can experience a day at the beach.
The project is being trialled in conjunction with the city’s two beach wheelchairs, which can be rented free-of-charge.
The site also features accessible toilets, ACROD parking, and accessible playground items and exercise equipment.
The city now has two beach wheel chairs, which can be booked 7 days a week at the Visitors Centre on Mandurah Terrace.
The second chair, an all-terrain wheel chair was recently purchased thanks to the support of Mandurah local Barry Small and Mirvac.
To book, call the Visitors Centre on 9550 3999 or visit visitpeel.com.au.
