Peel Water Police then collected the five occupants and took them to Port Bouvard Marina.
The boat capsized in “relatively shallow waters” and no one was injured during the incident, according to authorities.
A WA Police spokesman said wake from a passing boat was believed to be the cause of the incident.
Department of Transport issued a navigational warning in the area immediately after the incident.
Authorities will continue to monitor the area until the boat is retrieved by its owners.
Skippers operating in the waterway are urged to take caution when passing others.
A local resident who was heading out for crabbing and was passing through the area at the time said the scene was a nice “lesson” for his grandchildren onboard.
