The Vivid Art Gallery has celebrated its first anniversary and toasted to a busy year in their new Smart Street Mall exhibition space.
The gallery was opened by Vivid Art Collective, which is a group of seven professional artists based in the Peel Region who banded together three years ago to give their work a bigger punch in the arts industry.
To celebrate the mammoth year the artists have undertaken, the collective’s secretary and member artist Corrine Rapley has provided Mandurah Mail readers an insight of their work. Check out her 2018 highlights below:
OPINION
Vivid continues to support local artist’s growth and development of arts practises.
Artists gain amazing exposure through the website, social media and by displaying their artworks at Vivid Gallery.
Continually evolving exhibitions, create opportunities for commissioned work and art sales.
Throughout 2018, in all we supported nine full time artists, six guest artists and one group.
This year to increase interest and help with running costs of the gallery we allocated spaces for guest artists to exhibit for short durations.
Current guest artists are talented abstract artist Hilly Coufreur who was the 2018 Margaret River Art Prize winner and four local ceramic artists, including Richard Francis, Ute Kruse, Tich Dixon and Rebecca Johnson.

Over 2018 year we’ve enjoyed participation from artists - children to adults.
Vivid Art Collective’s members also supported the City of Mandurah by hosting the Crab Fest En-plein Air Art Competition.
The gallery helped by storing artworks, hosting the exhibition, event opening and announcement of winners.
Over 100 entries were received in the “9 x 5” Art Competition “Mandurah Life in Art”, which was held across Stretch Arts Festival.
In 2019 Vivid Art Collective aspire to improve and develop further and flourish in the community.
We are growing a strong following of supporters from local community and further afield.
We will be hosting more community events including an annual “9 x 5” Art Competition and the en-plein air art competition.
The gallery will also host a Summer Masquerade Party Exhibition, where artists and guests created masks.
We intend to work closely with some of our local senior high schools and our upcoming young artists.
We encourage and invite applications from more artists to join the collective.
We are looking for and open to new ideas and collaborations.
