OPINION
This year has been a big year for the Peel region.
The Morrison Government has delivered record funding for important infrastructure, job-creating projects and vital local services.
In Mandurah, we have delivered $21.75 million to develop the Peel Business Park – an initiative to expand local job opportunities through agri-innovation, industry development and exports.
The plan to build a train station in Lakelands is slowly developing, with $2 million required to complete the necessary business case.
This month we opened the Peel Health Hub, a major expansion of local health services made possible with the help of $2.4 million from the federal government.
In the broader Peel region we have delivered over $5 million to expand aged care services in Waroona and Pinjarra.

We have also provided more than $2 million to improve local school facilities and almost $300,000 to support community projects like the Mandurah Mum’s Cottage.
In parliament, my focus has been on keeping Australia safe and secure. As Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, much of my time has been spent refining laws to fight the dangerously high levels of espionage and foreign interference happening in Australia.
We have also established the Critical Infrastructure Centre, which applies a strict national security test to any foreign investment into Australia’s critical infrastructure, such as electricity, gas, water and ports.
2019 promises to be even bigger.
My first priority is a better Peel Health Campus and I will continue to put pressure on the state government to give Mandurah the hospital we rightly deserve.
In Canberra, I am working with the health minister to secure federal support to improve Peel Health Campus’ services.
I’m also seeking funding to make the Mandurah Foreshore Redevelopment a reality and am in discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister about funding for the Pinjarra Heavy Haulage Deviation.
