Young athletes from Singleton Sharks Little Athletics Club have excelled at state and national level over recent weeks, showcasing their abilities against some of Australia’s top young performers.
Club members Lucia Groves and Bianka Richards represented Western Australia at the National All-Schools Titles in Cairns on December 8, competing at under-16 level at the Queensland event.
The pair were part of the WA team that finished fifth in the 4x400m event against stern competition, while Lucia also qualified for the final of the individual 400m.
Singleton athletes also competed at the WA Track and Field Relay Championships in Perth earlier this month at the WA Athletics Stadium.
The under-12 boys team won bronze, with Singleton club members Brock Ahern, Brock Wilmott and Sean Tubbs-Forsey playing their part in the impressive feat.
Fellow under-12 athlete Ryan Moore also won bronze in the field relay event.
Singleton Sharks chairperson Emma Longstaff said all the athletes had done the club proud and their achievements were a testament to the athletic quality in the region.
“We are very proud of all our athletes, who have shown they have bright futures in athletics and are progressing at the club,” she said.
Ms Longstaff said the Singleton club was halfway through their 2018/19 season and had zone titles and state track and field events to look forward to in February and March.
