As a member of the Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre, it was wonderful to witness the centre’s great success throughout Seniors Week.
It was a dream week for the centre, with approximately 1500 visitors attending the various activities and events.
The staff and volunteers worked particularly hard, and were all so passionate and knowledgeable.
There were several highlights throughout the week – the seniors extravaganza concert, dancing, mega bingo, the ‘Living Well’ Expo, and the many notable visitors.
Mayor Rhys Williams hosted a morning tea and also helped serve meals in the canteen.
Minister for the Arts and Local Government David Templeman attended the expo and it was great to see these people taking time out from their busy schedules.

The centre has grown over the years, and offers something for everyone.
The City of Mandurah should be very proud of the centre, which I believe is the best in Western Australia.
The centre will close from the December 22 and will temporarily relocate to the Peel Thunder Football Club. The re-opening will be held on Monday January 7, 2019.
This is a wonderful gesture from the David Grays Arena.
The opening hours at the Peel Thunder Football Club for seniors is Monday – Thursday 8:30am to 4pm. It will be closed on Fridays.
In-house activities and meals are available and a modified activity program is to be advised.
Free health checks will also soon commence once a month from Murdoch Nursing Clinic. Appointments will be 10 to 15 minutes long, and are free for members.
Looking ahead to 2019, many events are in the planning stages, with a surprise or two on the way.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and New Year.
