The Mandurah Magic is set to host several marquee games across the next State Basketball League season, following the release of the competition’s 2019 fixture on Wednesday.
The Magic will look to pack out their Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) base when they take to their home courts for four of a possible five marquee SBL fixtures, including matches on Easter, Anzac Day round, heritage round and mental health round.
Mandurah opens their season on the road, however, with the women’s outfit set for a blockbuster grand final rematch against Lakeside on Friday, March 15.

The Lightning had their number in the 2018 championship game, but the Magic will be looking to extract revenge before returning to the MARC for their home-opener against Kalamunda the next day in the second clash of their round one double-header.
The club’s first marquee game of the season will be held on Easter Thursday, April 18 when they square off with the rival South West Slammers a week before hosting the Perth Redbacks in an Anzac Day round battle on April 26.
Logos and colours from years gone by will fill the stadium when the Magic hosts Perry Lakes in the SBL’s heritage round, while raising awareness for mental health issues will be at the forefront of their clash with Geraldton in week 19.
Mandurah Basketball Association president James Waldeck said the club was rapt with their 2019 fixture.
“We’re really excited – we’ve been on our new showcourts for a couple of seasons now and to be able to host these big games is huge for us,” he said.
“Also to see our women starting off with a grand final rematch, that’s going to be huge. The intent this year is to win a championship so hopefully we can get off to a good start there.”
