The Mandurah Mustangs have been given the final green light they needed to go ahead with the construction of their new club rooms.
The local Peel Football and Netball League club was presented with a $65,920 state government grant last week, the final piece of the puzzle needed to kick off assembly on the new facilities.

Handed down through the McGowan government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), the grant will go towards change rooms and storage for the club’s future home to be built at the northern end of Rushton Park.
The new facilities will see the Mustangs move out of the base they currently share with WAFL club Peel Thunder, giving them a standalone venue to call home.
Building project manager and club member Brant Sachse said the rooms would become a significant part of the club’s already lengthy history.
“Without these facilities we don’t have a future,” he said.
“This is pivotal to us moving forward as a club – it gives our members, players and supporters a place to call home.
“Just the fact that we’ve gone so many years without having a home of our own, and for it now to be within reach, it’s massive for our club.”
Getting to the point of construction has been a five-year process for the Mustangs, with Sachse saying the club was ecstatic to be nearing the building stage.
“To know we’re so close to going ahead is like a weight off the shoulders,” he said.
“So many people have put in so much hard work and there’s still a lot to be done with the construction, but to see it becoming a reality is great.
“It’s a really exciting time to be a part of the club.”
The Mustangs still need to make their final submissions to the City of Mandurah, but an approximately nine-month construction period is expected to begin around mid-March.
The club anticipates it will be in it’s new home prior to the 2020 season.
