A 26-year-old Falcon man has pleaded not guilty in the Mandurah Magistrates Court to striking a Golden Retriever dog in the head.
Mathew John Brown pleaded not guilty to causing an animal unnecessary harm when he appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday, via video link from Hakea Prison.
Police prosecutor Tamara Read told the court Mr Brown “struck” the dog to its head with his hand, while handcuffed in custody at a Falcon property on October 11.
Senior Constable Read said two police officers witnessed the incident.
Mr Brown is due to reappear for a trial in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on December 7, 2018.
