Mandurah parents have been warned about the perils of snake bites after two primary school students were sent to hospital last week.
Meadow Springs Primary School sent out a letter to parents on Friday after two students were taken to hospital with unconfirmed snake bites.
A snake expert was contacted to assess the area, while students were also asked not to play on the oval at lunch time as a precaution.
A Department of Education spokeswoman has since said there was no venom found in either case and all staff had received training by St John Ambulance on how to respond to any suspected snake bites.
The news follows a Pinjarra vet advising animal owners to beware of snakes after a handful of dogs were bitten last month.
Between 81,000 and 138,000 people around the world die each year from venomous snake bites while up to 400,000 are left with permanent disabilities, the World Health Organisation estimates.
