Murray residents, local schools and businesses have come to the aid of the district’s less fortunate, adding a little extra cheer as the festive season draws near.
The community rallied during October’s Anti-Poverty Week, donating non-perishable food and personal hygiene items to the Pinjarra Community Kitchen.
Shire president David Bolt thanked the community for their generosity, as well as local businesses and schools for hosting collection bins.
The annual Food Drive campaign helps to reduce the effects of poverty and hardship in our district.

“Three months’ worth of assistance was collected through Food Drive efforts, and will assist struggling Murray community members throughout the upcoming festive season.

The Pinjarra Community Kitchen operates every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm at the Alliance Church on George Street, Pinjarra. A meal is provided to those in need and everyone is welcome.

The Pinjarra Community Kitchen is a joint initiative between the Alliance Church, Family Church, Anglican Church and Uniting Church with further support provided by St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Collection bins were set up at several locations throughout the district including Alcoa Administration Building, Blue Wren Café, Caraholly Orchard, Carcoola Primary School, Creative Aquarius Markets in South Yunderup, Dwellingup History and Visitor Information Centre, Dwellingup Primary School, Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Murray Library, North Dandalup Primary School, Pinjarra Senior High School and the Shire of Murray Administration Office.
